What a Made-to-Measure Wardrobe Actually Solves
Almost every bedroom in Dubai has the same problem: a wall that is 3.2m long and a wardrobe that comes in 1m units. You end up with a 200mm gap at the end, a 400mm dust shelf on top, and internals designed for someone else's clothes. A fitted wardrobe removes all three. It is built to the exact width of your wall, taken to the ceiling, and laid out around the ratio of hanging to folding you actually need.

Built-In Wardrobes
Floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes scribed to the wall so there is no dust ledge on top and no gap at the side. The standard choice for Dubai apartment bedrooms, where ceilings run 2.7m to 3.0m and the top 400mm is usually wasted.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Open dressing rooms with hanging runs, shelving, drawer banks, island units and mirror sections. Built into spare bedrooms, oversized master suites and villa dressing areas. Doors optional, lighting almost always worth it.
Sliding Door Wardrobes
Sliding door wardrobes for rooms where a swing door would hit the bed or block a walkway. Panels in mirror, back-painted glass, wood veneer or lacquer, running on Hettich or Blum track systems.
Hinged Door Wardrobes
Hinged doors give you the full opening at once, which matters if you fold rather than hang. Single, double, triple and multi-section runs, with soft-close hinges rated for 50,000 to 100,000 cycles.
Corner Wardrobes
L-shaped and corner units that turn the dead 900mm of a bedroom corner into hanging space, using a corner carousel, an angled hanging rail or a deep pull-out rather than a cupboard you cannot reach into.
Walk-Through and Dressing Runs
A wardrobe run built along the corridor between bedroom and en-suite. Common in villa master suites in Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Hills, where the layout gives you a natural passage to line with storage.
Children's Wardrobes
Lower rails at reachable height, an adjustable upper rail that moves up as the child grows, rounded edges, and door mechanisms that will not trap fingers. Finishes in low-VOC lacquer or melamine.
Maid Room and Utility Wardrobes
Compact, hard-wearing units for maid rooms, laundry areas and storerooms. Built in moisture-resistant board with laminate faces, because these rooms are usually the least air-conditioned space in a Dubai apartment.

What pushes the price up
- Sprayed lacquer and natural veneer, which can add 30 to 60 percent over a laminate front

Materials and Finishes Chosen for the UAE Climate
Dubai runs at roughly 60 percent average relative humidity across the year, and coastal districts spike to 70 to 90 percent through the summer. Add air conditioning that cycles the same room between 22 and 35 degrees and you have the exact conditions that swell fibreboard, lift PVC wraps and pop edge banding. Board selection is the single decision that determines whether a wardrobe still looks right in year five.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Green or blue core, visible when you cut it. Resin-treated to slow water absorption. Costs 10 to 15 percent more than standard MDF and is our default carcass and door substrate for every Dubai bedroom.
Marine and BWP plywood
Cross-plied and bonded with phenolic adhesive, so moisture cannot travel through in a straight line. We specify it for back panels against external walls, ground-floor villas, coastal properties and any long horizontal shelf that carries weight.
Why not particleboard
Raw chipboard is the cheapest core on the market and the reason developer wardrobes fail. The edges wick moisture, the screw holes strip, and a shelf sags under folded clothes within a year. We do not build with it.
PU lacquer
Sprayed over primed MR MDF in a dust-free booth, typically 5 to 7 coats with sanding between. Any RAL colour, matt, satin or gloss. It can be repaired and re-sprayed on site, unlike a wrapped or laminated front.
Natural veneer
Oak, walnut, ash and teak, sequence-matched so grain runs continuously across a multi-door run. Sealed both faces to stop the panel from cupping when one side sits in a cooler room than the other.
Edge banding and sealing
ABS edge banding on all four edges of every panel, including hidden ones, applied with PUR adhesive. Unsealed rear edges are where humidity gets in, and they are the first thing a cheap workshop skips.
Hardware
Blum, Hettich and Hafele hinges, runners and sliding gear, rated at 50,000 to 100,000 opening cycles. Soft-close on doors and drawers as standard. Cheap unbranded hinges are the most common failure point in a wardrobe.
Ventilation detail
A 10mm air gap behind the back panel where a wardrobe sits against an external wall, so condensation on the concrete does not sit directly against board. Small detail, and it decides whether you get mould behind the unit.
Integrated lighting
Recessed LED strip at 3000K to 4000K with a PIR sensor that lights the interior when the door opens. Run on a 24V driver so nothing warm sits against fabric. Adds roughly AED 400 to 900 per bay installed.
Sizing and Internal Layout That Works
Most wardrobe disappointment comes from dimensions, not from finish. These are the numbers we design to, and the reasons behind them. We plan the internals from a count of what you own: how many long garments, how many shirts, how many pairs of shoes, how much you fold rather than hang.

Two rules save more space than anything else. First, double-hang wherever you can: two short rails in a 2,000mm height give you twice the capacity of one long rail, and most wardrobes only need one long-hang bay. Second, put drawers inside the wardrobe rather than buying a separate chest, which frees the floor and keeps the room reading as one clean elevation.
From Measurement to Installation

Site survey
We measure the wall at three heights, check the floor level, the ceiling drop and every skirting, cornice, AC grille and socket in the way. Dubai walls are rarely square, and a wardrobe cut to a single measurement will not sit flush.
Design and layout
Elevations and an internal plan drawn to your garment count. You see door splits, handle positions, drawer heights and the exact rail arrangement before anything is ordered.
Samples and fixed quote
Finish samples and hardware to handle in person, then a line-by-line fixed quote. Nothing changes at installation unless you change the scope.
Workshop manufacture
Panels cut on a beam saw to sub-millimetre tolerance, edges banded, hinge cups drilled on a CNC, doors sprayed or veneered, then dry-assembled and checked before it leaves Al Quoz.
Installation
Carcasses set on adjustable feet and levelled, fixed back to the structure, doors hung and aligned, fillers scribed to the out-of-square wall, lighting connected and silicone finished.
Handover and adjustment
We walk the unit with you, adjust every hinge and runner, hand over spare fittings and the care sheet, and return once within the warranty period to re-align anything that settles.
Lead Times
Three to five weeks end to end for a typical bedroom. The finish is the variable that moves it most, because sprayed and veneered doors cannot be hurried without a visible cost in quality.

A fitted or built-in wardrobe is scribed to your walls, floor and ceiling, so it uses the full height of the room and leaves no gap to collect dust. It is fixed in place and does not move house with you. A freestanding custom wardrobe is still made to measure but sits as a piece of furniture, with a finished top, sides and back, and can be dismantled and taken to a new address. Should I choose sliding doors or hinged doors?

Choose sliding if the bed, a walkway or a door swing sits within about 700mm of the wardrobe front, because a hinged door needs that clearance to open. The trade-off is that sliding doors only ever expose about half the wardrobe at a time, and the track adds roughly 100mm to the carcass depth, so internals have to be planned around the panel positions. Choose hinged if you have the clearance: you get the full opening in one go, more usable internal depth for the same wall build-out, and a lower cost per linear metre.
Which wardrobe material lasts in Dubai humidity?

Moisture-resistant MDF, identifiable by its green or blue core, is the right carcass for almost every Dubai bedroom, and it costs only about 10 to 15 percent more than standard grade. For ground-floor villas, coastal properties and any run against an external wall, we specify marine or BWP-grade plywood for the back panel and horizontal shelving, because plywood cross-plies disrupt moisture paths in a way that fibreboard does not. Raw particleboard has no place in a UAE wardrobe: Dubai averages around 60 percent relative humidity year round and coastal areas spike to 70 to 90 percent in summer, which is enough to swell an unsealed chipboard edge.

Do villas in Dubai come with built-in wardrobes already?

Most handover villas and apartments in Dubai include basic built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms, usually melamine-faced units with a single rail, one shelf and no drawers. They are functional but developer-grade: shallow at times, rarely full height, and with hardware that starts sagging within a few years. Replacing or refitting them is one of the most common jobs we do. In many cases we keep the existing carcass where it is sound, and replace the doors, hardware and full internal layout, which brings the cost down considerably against a full strip-out.
Can you fit a custom wardrobe in a rented apartment in Dubai?
