Marble Tiling and Patterns
Marble tiling laid in herringbone, chevron, basketweave or a custom setting-out. Pattern work needs a dry lay and a proper cutting schedule before any adhesive is mixed, which is why it costs more per square metre than a straight lay.
Marble Inlay and Borders
Custom inlay designs, waterjet-cut medallions, contrasting borders and room frames. Two or three marble types set against each other, usually in an entrance hall or a lobby where the floor is the first thing anyone sees.
Marble Staircases
Marble stair treads, risers, nosings and skirting, templated to the actual staircase rather than the drawing. We install marble staircases in villas and townhouses in any profile, full or partial coverage, with anti-slip grooves where required.
Polishing and Sealing
Diamond honing, crystallisation polishing and impregnating sealer applied after installation, plus a maintenance re-polish and re-seal service for existing marble floors that have gone dull, etched or scratched.
Popular Marble Tiles in Dubai
The choice usually comes down to three things: how much traffic the floor takes, how much veining you want to live with, and lead time. Regional stone can be on site in days, while Italian whites are typically 6 to 12 weeks from selection to delivery.
Calacatta
Master bedrooms, entrance halls and feature rooms. Bright white with dramatic grey and gold veining, and the most expensive of the Italian whites.
Carrara
Versatile white Italian marble for living rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms. Subtle feathered veining and far more forgiving on budget than Calacatta.
Crema Marfil
Warm cream-beige Spanish marble, one of the most used flooring marbles in Dubai villas and apartments. Hides dust and daily wear better than any white.
Volakas White
Greek white marble with delicate grey veining. Clean and luminous, and a common choice for open-plan floors where a full-white scheme is wanted.
Tundra Grey
Grey tones with beige undertones. Contemporary, widely available in Dubai, and one of the better value large-format options.
Statuario
White with bold, decisive grey veining. Usually reserved for feature areas and book-matched walls rather than whole floors, on cost grounds.
Omani Beige
Regionally quarried and readily available in the UAE, which shortens lead times considerably. Warm neutral tones and good value across large floor areas.
Emperador
Brown marble in light and dark grades. Strong with timber joinery and traditional or majlis-style interiors, and very good at concealing traffic marks.
Travertine
Warm beige with a natural pitted texture. Popular for outdoor terraces, pool decks and feature interior floors, filled and honed for interior use.
Black Marquina
Deep black with sharp white veining. Used for dramatic feature floors, bathroom floors and contrast borders. Shows dust and water marks, so it suits low-traffic areas.

How We Install Marble Flooring
Marble failures in Dubai are almost never caused by the stone. They are caused by a hollow screed, a grey adhesive under a white marble, sealing a floor before the substrate has dried, or a floor polished by someone who has only ever polished porcelain. These nine stages exist to remove all four.
Survey and Setting Out
We measure the floor, check levels across the whole area, and set out the tile grid so cuts land where they are least visible and the pattern centres on the room rather than on a corner. Setting out is done on paper before a single tile is ordered.
Selection and Slab Reservation
You see physical samples, and for larger jobs we take you to the stone yard to select the actual blocks. Marble varies enormously between batches, so the whole floor is reserved from one block or one consignment and tagged before cutting.
Substrate Preparation
The old floor comes up, the screed is checked for soundness and moisture, and hollow or cracked areas are cut out and recast. Marble is unforgiving: a floor laid over a substrate that moves will crack along the joints within a year regardless of how good the marble is.
Levelling and Membrane
Self-levelling compound where required, an anti-fracture or decoupling membrane over slabs that are prone to movement, and movement joints planned into large areas and at all abutments and thresholds.
Dry Lay and Vein Matching
Tiles or slabs are laid out dry so we can sequence the veining, reject any piece with a flaw, and confirm the cut schedule. On book-matched and pattern work this step takes a full day and saves the whole floor.
Laying
White cement-based adhesive on light marbles, because grey adhesives bleed through translucent white stone and grey it out permanently. Full-bed coverage with no voids under the tile, and large-format slabs handled with suction lifters.
Grouting
Narrow joints, colour matched to the stone, with unsanded grout on polished marble so nothing scratches the surface. Epoxy grout in wet areas and kitchens where staining is a real risk.
Honing and Polishing
Diamond pads taken through the grits to level the joints between pieces and remove lippage, then polished to the finish you selected. This is what turns individual tiles into one continuous surface.
Sealing and Protection
An impregnating sealer applied once the floor is fully dry, then the finished floor is boarded and protected while other trades finish. Sealing before the substrate has dried traps moisture and causes clouding, so timing matters.
Where flooring is part of a larger job, we sequence it against the rest of the trades so nothing is laid before the wet works are finished. That coordination is standard on our apartment renovation and Dubai renovation projects.
Sizes, Thickness and Finishes
Formats and thickness
Standard marble floor tiles come in 60x60cm, 60x120cm and 80x80cm, generally at 18 to 20mm thickness for floors. Large-format slabs run up to 120x240cm and are usually 20mm, with 30mm reserved for staircases, external use and heavily loaded commercial floors.
Bigger formats mean fewer grout lines and a calmer floor, but they need a flatter substrate, more levelling work and mechanical lifting. That trade-off is a real cost item, not a detail: the preparation for a 120x240cm slab floor is a different job from the preparation for 60x60cm tiles.
Allow around 10 percent extra material for cuts, and more on herringbone or diagonal layouts. On veined stone we order from a single block so the floor reads as one piece rather than a patchwork.
Surface finishes
Polished
Reflective and the most common finish in Dubai interiors. Makes rooms feel larger and brighter, shows scratches and water spotting most readily, and needs a re-polish every few years in high-traffic areas.
Honed
Smooth matt finish with no reflection. More forgiving with scratches and far safer underfoot when wet, which is why we specify it for bathrooms, kitchens and stairs more often than polished.
Brushed and leathered
A lightly textured surface that reads soft rather than glossy. Excellent at hiding daily wear, and increasingly requested for large villa floors and outdoor-adjacent areas.
Tumbled and filled
Mainly for travertine and limestone. Softened edges and a naturally aged surface, filled for interior use and left unfilled for external terraces where grip matters.
Marble Polishing, Sealing and Restoration
Half the marble work we do in Dubai is on floors that are already down. A dull, patchy or scratched marble floor is almost always recoverable, and restoring it costs a fraction of replacing it.
Diamond honing
Progressive grits flatten the surface, remove lippage between tiles, and grind out scratches and etch marks. This is the stage that actually repairs the stone, and it is the stage cheap polishing services skip.
Polishing
Powder polishing or crystallisation brings the reflection back. Marble polishing in Dubai commonly runs AED 20 to 150 per square metre depending on how much damage has to come out first.
Sealing
An impregnating sealer sits inside the stone rather than on top of it, so it resists staining without changing the look. Re-seal every twelve to twenty-four months, and always after a full re-polish.
Aftercare
Use pH-neutral stone cleaner only. Vinegar, lemon, bleach and standard bathroom products etch marble permanently. Felt pads under furniture, mats at entrances, and spills wiped rather than left, and the floor will outlive the building fit-out.
Dubai adds two local problems worth knowing about. Hard water leaves mineral deposits that look like permanent stains but usually hone straight out, and coastal salt attacks unsealed stone on balconies and terraces, which is why external marble gets a different sealer from internal floors.

Supply and installation of standard marble floor tiles in a straight bond typically runs AED 180 to 450 per square metre. Underneath that headline, the material sits at roughly AED 60 to 120 per sqm for Indian and regional stone, AED 120 to 250 per sqm for Turkish and Greek marbles, and AED 350 to 900 or more per sqm for Italian Carrara, Calacatta and Statuario.
Labour is the part people underestimate. Ordinary tiling labour in Dubai runs AED 35 to 80 per sqm, while marble laying commonly runs AED 120 to 200 per sqm because it needs trained masons, slower handling and diamond finishing on site. Cutting, edge profiling and transport typically add another 20 to 40 percent on top of the raw material cost, and pattern work, large-format slabs, staircases and inlay all carry a premium above the straight-lay rate.

We carry samples, and where the marble is a common commercial variety we can source from the same quarry origin, though a perfect match to stone laid years ago is rarely possible because blocks vary. For extensions and repairs, bring a spare tile or let us lift one from a wardrobe or under a fixed unit so we can match against the actual piece rather than a photograph. Where matching is impossible, a deliberate threshold or border between old and new reads far better than a near miss.
